I make a point of stopping in Forbidden Planet every time I'm near Union Square in NYC. I don't know who the character is, but this vinyl monkey with a cigarette in his mouth was in one of the display cases.

The original armature of the original King Kong (from the 1933 film) has sold at a Christie's auction for 121,250 pounds. Why, that's over 60 tons! ;)

Surf Monkey

I spent a few days on the beach with my family. While my kids were skim-boarding, I sculpted a couple of sand creatures. Here's a Gorilla I made on Saturday, and on Friday I made a Monster. That's my son James next to the Monkey, and my son Ian is the one who's about to be bludgeoned with a shovel by some kid who was hanging around. Coconut monkeys are bananas

These have to be the cheesiest souvenirs one can buy, but somehow they have been getting made (and apparently bought) for as long as I can remember. These were in the Bahamas. There were more, but I couldn’t bear to take any more pictures of them. I had to take the one that looks like Dr. Zaius, though.
